Your ultimate guide to beach dressing

As the summer approaches, we know many of you will be getting ready for your great summer getaway. Wherever you’re jetting off to, there are some important questions you should ask when you’re putting your outfit together. Here’s what you should consider:

What will you be doing?

The options for beach outfits are endless. The first step is carefully considering what you’ll be doing. Are you going to be lazing in the sand, dipping your toes in the water, or building endless sandcastles with your little ones? Your activities for the day will really impact what you wear. If you know you’re going to be playing games in the sand, wear something that’s comfortable and practical. If you’re just going to soak up the sun with your better half, pull out your most stylish pieces.

If you’re thinking of diving into the sea, it’s often a good idea to wear your bikini or swimsuit under your clothes. You won’t always be guaranteed changing facilities, so going prepared is a great way to save time and hassle battling with towels.

How long will you be there?

Do you plan to spend the whole day on the beach, or will you be going into town later on? If you know there’s a chance you might be going to the shops, wear something that’s not strictly beachwear – think top and shorts, or a cute summer dress. This way you won’t look out of place if you’re stepping off the beach for a little bit.

Another thing to consider is if you’ll be on the beach to watch the sunset. No matter where you are in the world, once the sun goes down you’ll likely feel the chill. If you know you’re going to be lounging on the beach until after dark, make sure you take something with you to wrap up in if the temperatures drop.

Have you got the right accessories?

It might feel great to lounge in the sun all day, but without the proper precautions it can do more harm than good for your skin. Once you’ve picked out your key pieces, don’t forget to accessorise. Take some sunglasses to protect your eyes, and a lightweight hat to protect your scalp – it’s one of the only areas of your body that you can’t smother in sun cream!

If you’re looking for the perfect additions to your summer wardrobe, you can find cute, fair trade pieces in our Bohocity store. Perfect for relaxing on the beach!
